How to Hire a Bookkeeper

Are you ready to hire a bookkeeper?

You’ve built your business from the ground up all by yourself. You did the marketing, bookkeeping, and work on your own. However, now the business has grown so much that you can’t keep up with everything.

Congratulations! You’re ready to hire!

Now what?

If you’ve never owned a business before, it might seem daunting to add more people to your efforts. After all, no one is going to care about your business as much as you do, right?

In order to help you with this process, I’m going to answer 3 common questions business owners have about bookkeepers:

Does my bookkeeper have to be on payroll?

No. They can be on your payroll if you want them to be. Since Profit Meadow is it’s own business, we work as a contract worker. This means that you pay us our rate, and we are responsible for paying in to the IRS. You don’t have to worry about payroll taxes for us at all.

Does my bookkeeper have to be on-site?

Again, that’s completely up to you. Profit Meadow is a virtual bookkeeping business, so we are able to work with multiple clients at many different locations, hundreds of miles apart!
